Guidelines

Mr Harding is currently in IPD where his needs are be met however he is imminently moving to HB1 where he will require support to meet his personal care needs. I am on leave from today until 30th September and have asked the wing to notify Sophie when the move happens and she can then inform you of a start date.

Mr Harding was diagnosed with Huntington's disease 5 years ago. This is a a rare, inherited disease that causes the progressive breakdown (degeneration) of nerve cells in the brain. Huntington's disease has a wide impact on a person's functional abilities and usually results in movement, thinking (cognitive) and psychiatric disorder.

Mr Harding will require daily support to have a shower. He will be able to access the disabled shower on B Spur. He has very unstable mobility and uses his own method of transfer to get from his wheelchair to the shower stool and is determined to do his day to day tasks himself.

FYI it has been reported by officers that Mr Harding was asking his wing carer to wash personal areas when he previously was on the wing in the disabled cell hence why he is being moved to a single cell. He should be able to wash as much of himself as possible. He is able to dress himself however does this at his own pace.
